The Museum, located on Central Park West in New York City, was founded in 1869 by several philanthropists, including Theodore Roosevelt. The Field Museum, located in Chicago and named for its first major benefactor, Marshall Field, the core collections of the museum are the biological and anthropological collections assembled for the 1893 World's Fair.
